Attachment point for the interface ribbon cable. There are 40 pins for ATA and 50 pins for SCSI narrow. Care must always be taken to orient pin-1 on the cable to pin-1 on the drive. Pin-1 on the cable is usually marked. The cable should never be removed when power is applied to the drive.
